Privacy Policy

CryptoLawMap is built on the principle that we should collect as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and what your rights are.

The Short Version

  • Our calculators run entirely in your browser. We do not see your numbers.
  • We use minimal analytics to understand which pages are read most.
  • We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to third parties.
  • You can opt out of analytics by enabling Do Not Track in your browser.
  • If you email us, we keep that email until the conversation is resolved, then delete it.

What We Collect

Automatic data via your visit: Like most websites, our server logs receive standard request information including IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and pages visited. Logs are retained for 30 days for security and operational purposes, then deleted.

Analytics: We use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to understand which pages are read most often and how readers arrive. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking that builds cross-site profiles. Our analytics anonymise IP addresses and respect Do Not Track signals.

Email if you contact us: If you email hello@cryptolawmap.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message via standard email infrastructure. We use this only to respond to your enquiry.

Email if you subscribe: If you submit your email via our annual-update signup form, we store the email address solely to email you when our annual guides are updated (typically once per year). We do not share the list with third parties and do not use it for any other purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Calculator inputs: The numbers you enter into our calculators are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. They are never sent to our servers and never leave your device. You can verify this with your browser\'s network developer tools.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or social-security/tax-ID number.
  • We do not track your activity across other websites.
  • We do not use cookies that identify individual users.
  • We do not buy data from data brokers to enrich your profile.
  • We do not sell data to anyone.

Cookies

We use one functional cookie or localStorage entry: a flag remembering whether you have dismissed our top announcement bar. This is set only when you click the dismiss button. It contains no personal information and is used only to avoid showing the same bar repeatedly.

We do not set any advertising, tracking, or third-party cookies.

Third-Party Services

Google Fonts: We load Instrument Sans and Plus Jakarta Sans from Google\'s font CDN. Per Google\'s documentation, font CDN requests do not set tracking cookies and Google retains font request data only for short operational windows. If you have privacy concerns, you may block fonts.googleapis.com at your DNS or browser level — the site degrades gracefully to system fonts.

CDN for Cal Sans font: We load the Cal Sans display font from jsDelivr CDN, which has similar operational practices.

Affiliate links: When you click an affiliate link to a third-party service (crypto tax software, exchange), that third party will receive standard referral information indicating you came from CryptoLawMap. Their privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, UK GDPR)

Even though we collect very little personal data, you have rights regarding any data we do hold:

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your data.
  • Right to object to processing — request that we stop processing your data for specific purposes.
  • Right to data portability — request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent — for processing based on consent (e.g. email subscription), withdraw at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cryptolawmap.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

Children

CryptoLawMap is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.

International Transfers

Our servers are based in the United States. By using the site you understand that your standard request data is processed in the US. We do not transfer personal data to jurisdictions without adequate protection per applicable data-protection regimes.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is available at cryptolawmap.com/privacy-policy and the date of last update appears at the top. Material changes will be noted prominently on the homepage for 30 days.
